MORRISSEY Presents
The return of the NEW YORK DOLLS
LIVE FROM ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL, 2004
DVD 22 November 2004

In June of 2004 Morrissey invited the legendary New York Dolls to play a very special show at this year's Meltdown Festival taking place in London at the Royal Festival Hall. Simply put the results were fantastic and found the Dolls playing better than ever.
On 22nd November 2004, Sanctuary Visual Entertainment will release a DVD which documented the NY Dolls' only show in almost 30 years, and poignantly captures the final performance of bassist Arthur 'Killer' Kane, who recently passed away.
This DVD serves to illustrate why David Johansen, Sylvain Sylvain and Arthur Kane had such a massive influence on rock's superheroes of today, the likes of which include Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses and Motley Crue.
The line-up that played at The London Royal Festival Hall was augmented with a number of session musicians. Original guitarist Johnny Thunders and drummer Jerry Nolan died in 1991. Nolan's place was taken by Libertines star Gary Powell. The band agreed to re-form for their first gig in 27 years after Morrissey, who was the curator of the alternative arts festival Meltdown, made a personal approach.
"I will always remember the look of bashful happiness on Arthur's face as people in the audience constantly called out his name" - Morrissey. The singer, a former president of the U.K New York Dolls fan club, has held the pioneering punk rock band in high esteem for many years. "I've magnified the importance of The New York Dolls since I was a small, fat, dull child and it isn't possible to say too much about them. The songs were great and still are, and David Johansen looks and sounds better than ever".
"Morrissey Presents The Return Of The New York Dolls Live From The Royal Festival Hall 2004" is mixed for both Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and 2.0 stereo with DVD bonus material which includes 'Pre-Gig Condition'; footage taken from the rehearsals for the NY Doll's gig at The Royal Festival Hall and bonus live performances of "Jet Boy" and "Personality Crisis" shot at The Move Festival held in Manchester on 11th July 04.
Further highlights from the bonus material on "Morrissey Presents The Return Of The New York Dolls Live From The Royal Festival Hall 2004" includes the Arthur Kane Memorial from onepotato and a photo gallery of pictures taken at The Meltdown Festival.
