FOCA award for Indy Speedway 13 Dec 2000

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has won the Formula One Constructors Association Award, presented annually for the best promoter and event organiser in the sport each year.
In accepting the award from Formula One Management boss, Bernie Ecclestone, at the FIA's end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco on December 8th, CEO Tony George said, "This award is a tribute to all of the men and women of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the local host committee who worked so hard to prepare for the SAP United States Grand Prix. The expectations were high, and they were met."
The Speedway held its inaugural Grand Prix last September, Formula1 having not been staged on American soil since 1991. The oval circuit, famous as the venue for the Indy 500 classic, underwent a multi-million dollar makeover to turn the vast infield into an FIA approved circuit
The SAP United States Grand Prix for 2001 is scheduled for September 28-30th.

Barrichello and Badoer on track in December

Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro has established its testing plan for the month of
December. The world championship winning team will stay in Spain, with
three sessions planned at Jerez, Valencia and Barcelona. With Michael
Schumacher still convalescing after the operation on his right leg, driving
duties will fall to Luca Badoer and Rubens Barrichello, although their
precise schedule has yet to be finalised.
The build of the car which will defend the team's titles in 2001 is
proceeding according to plan. For some time now, a half scale model has
been tested in the wind tunnel at Maranello, while the first chassis is
already under construction. The new engine, the 050 is at the pre-assembly
stage. While the 049 had several modifications compared with its
predecessor, for example an increase in V angle, the 2001 engine, has a new
bottom end, in part derived from the C version of the 049 which was used
only in qualifying from the Belgian Grand Prix onwards. 11.29.2000

The day following the Monza tragedy

The natural satisfaction for the result of the Italian Grand Prix cannot, of course, take away from the deep sorrow felt due to the tragedy experienced yesterday at Monza, resulting in the death of Paolo Gislimberti, a voluntary fire officer of the CEA. Ferrari will be present at his funeral with a delegation composed of the team manager, Stefano Domenicali; the chief press officer, Claudio Berro and the driver Luca Badoer. As is required in such situations, any possible gesture made by Ferrari in aid of the family will remain completely private. However, the chairman of Ferrari Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has discussed with Bernie Ecclestone the possibility of a collection on behalf of the whole of Formula 1 the proceeds of which will be donated to the family. This act, which has the support of all of the drivers, has also been endorsed fully by Michael Schumacher.
Monaco GP: Schumacher, Trulli Top Qualifying

Monte Carlo, Monaco, June 3 – It wasn’t such a surprise to see Michael Schumacher emerge with the fastest time from qualifying for Sunday’s 58th Grand Prix of Monaco, but it was indeed shocking to see Jordan’s Jarno Trulli in second.

Schumacher posted a 1:19.475/94.85mph lap around the twisty 2.099mi circuit to take the honors, with Trulli slotting in at 1:19.746. David Coulthard, who was fastest in Saturday practice, was third, ahead of Trulli’s teammate Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Coulthard’s teammate Mika Hakkinen.

Rubens Barrichello, Jean Alesi, Giancarlo Fisichella, Ralf Schumacher and Eddie Irvine completed the top 10.

May 20, 2000 Nurburg, Germany - Michael Schumacher's fourth win of the year has put the Ferrari driver 18 points clear of Mika Hakkinen. The German didn't put a wheel wrong in the difficult wet conditions, heading home Hakkinen, who was the only other driver on the lead lap. Full story and wrap!

May 20, 2000 Nurburg, Germany – Sometimes, timing is everything. Thus it was today for McLaren’s David Coulthard, who had just snuck in what would turn out to be the fastest lap of qualifying for the European Grand Prix as it was starting to rain. Full story and results

May 6, 2000- Hakkinen leads Coulthard to a McLaren 1 - 2 at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona today. Full race report

May 6, 2000 - Michael Schumacher took pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix, his first this year. The German was dominant for most of the session, as well as in Friday and Saturday practice. Mika Hakkinen's last run closed the gap to just one tenth of a second, but was not good enough for pole. Rubens Barrichello was disappointed that he didn't make it onto the front row, but his final time was more than four tenths slower than Schumacher.
Coulthard took fourth spot, just four hundredths of a second behind Barrichello. The Scotsman suffered from a fuel pressure problem, and at one stage switched to the spare car. However, the problem was solved, and Coulthard went out in his own race car, but only managed fourth place, despite looking like the driver most likely to challenge Schumacher this weekend.
Ralf Schumacher has been extremely strong all weekend. The Williams driver was second in Friday Practice and fifth in Saturday's practice. Jacques Villeneuve made it to sixth spot, with the Jordan's of Trulli and Frentzen only making it to seventth and eighth.
The Arrows team had a strong performance - Pedro de la Rosa came in ninth and Jos Verstappen was 12th.

Coulthard wins British GP - quick report 23 Apr 2000
David Coulthard won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone today. Despite the predictions it was a dry race. His team mate Mika Hakkinen came in just over one second behind him, followed by the Ferrari of Michael Schumacher.
Both Williams made it into the points with Ralf Schumacher in fourth and rookie Jenson Button in fifth - his second points finish in his first four races. In sixth was the Jordan of Trulli.
There was disappointment for Rubens Barrichello who led for most of the race, but retired when his engine repeatedly cut out. Frentzen also who also held the first spot at one point, retired with a gearbox problem that plagued the Jordan.
An exciting start saw Button passing his boyhood hero, Michael Schumacher. Then Villeneuve passed the Ferrari on the other side, and finally his brother, Ralf, forced his way through. After Ralf passed Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher was held up in eighth place for much of the race by the Canadian. At one stage he was 25 seconds off the lead.
