The track sheet for the first single from ARRIVAL - Higher Place.
A History and significance of the scarab.

In the '80s, Journey ruled the road like few American bands
who came before them. Show after sold-out show, in front of tens of thousands of
screaming fans, the quintet defined arena rock, as they cast a magical spell over
their audience woven by Steve Perry's soaring vocals, Neal Schon's electrifying guitar,
Jonathan Cain's fluid keyboards, Ross Valory's precise bass, and Steve Smith's flawless
drumming. This disc captures the band at the absolute height of their power, playing
with a raw enthusiasm as if each night might be their last.
In one of those improbable but true stories, these long-missing live tapes were unearthed
in late 1997 in one of Sony's tape storage facilities. Capturing 1981 and 1983 concerts
in Houston, Texas; Norman, Oklahoma; and Tokyo, Japan; the tapes after years of storage,
had to be baked in an oven to allow a one-time only transfer to digital tape. Kevin
Shirley, who produced the band's triumphant 1996 reunion album, "Trial By Fire,"
remixed 16 songs. However unlike many "live" albums, there was absolutely
no sweetening or overdubs. The sound is pure Journey live, just the way it was and
now will always be...Journey.

Journey
Trial By Fire
(Columbia)
Churning seas of emotion, burning yearnings and the poignant ache of heartbreak--this
was the stuff of which arena rock dreams were made, and back in the '80s Journey
defined the genre. The group's first album in over ten years is lush (thanks to rich
production by Kevin Shirley), urgent and brimming with lots of comfortably worn rock
conventions (or cliches, depending on whether or not you were part of the lighter
brigade). Basslines throb and pop, guitar solos gush forth gleaming with feeling,
and Steve Perry's supple, reedy vocals soar over it all, coasting on images of rain
and tears, love won and lost. No, it's not terribly substantive, there's an overabundance
of gooey ballads that weighs down the album, and on more than one occasion the band
sounds as if they're recycling elements of past triumphs. But their hearts are in
the right place, and sincerity counts for a lot these days.
